In a remarkable display of cricketing talent, Agni Chopra, son of renowned filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra, has become the talk of the domestic cricket circuit in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2023-2024 season.

Agni Chopra created history with five hundreds in his first four FC matches

Playing for Mizoram, the young prodigy has been in scintillating form, scoring his fifth century in just his fourth match against Meghalaya on Tuesday. Notably, he became the first ever player to hit a century in his first four first-class matches.

While Vidhu Vinod Chopra is enjoying acclaim for his latest film '12th Fail,' his son is busy making a name for himself in the cricketing world. Agni's explosive batting has been a key factor in Mizoram's impressive performances this season.

In his latest Ranji Trophy clash against Meghalaya, Agni showcased his extraordinary skills, scoring a swift 105 off 90 balls in the first innings, an effort studded with 13 boundaries and four sixes. His contribution was vital in Mizoram's robust first-innings total of 359.

The team later bowled out Meghalaya for 281, setting the stage for another Agni Chopra special. In the second innings, he blazed to 101 from 71 balls, pushing Mizoram's lead with 16 fours and a six. Mizoram declared at 237/9, eventually securing a 191-run victory after dismissing Meghalaya for 124.

For the unversed, Agni's debut in the Ranji Trophy was equally impressive. He amassed scores of 166 and 92 against Sikkim, although Mizoram narrowly lost that encounter. However, Agni continued his run spree with 164 against Nagaland, followed by a brisk 114 against Arunachal Pradesh, steering his team to an 8-wicket win.

With 767 runs in eight innings at an average of 95.88, Agni Chopra is now the leading run-scorer in the tournament. His left-handed batting skills have not only won matches for Mizoram but have also earned him widespread praise. As he continues to dominate the Ranji Trophy, Agni Chopra is surely a player to look out for in the near future.
