In a significant development, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has instructed four players of the Test squad to participate in the opening round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy (QEAT) ahead of the highly anticipated Test series against South Africa.
As per reports by Geo Super, wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, Salman Ali Agha, Hasan Ali, and off-spinner Sajid Khan will represent their respective regional sides in Pakistan’s premier domestic first-class competition, beginning October 6.
It is important to note that the decision has been taken by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who emphasised the importance of match fitness and red-ball form before Pakistan takes on South Africa in a two-match Test series on home soil. This initiative is part of the PCB’s broader plan to provide players with competitive exposure and platform.
The four players have been temporarily released from the national training camp to gain game time and competitive exposure in the QEAT.

The final match of the prestigious tournament will be played on November 29, 2025.
