In a massive setback for Rajasthan Royals (RR), their regular skipper Sanju Samson has been ruled out of the upcoming IPL 2025 match against Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. In Samson's absence, middle-order batter Riyan Parag will lead the Royals in this match.
Why Is Sanju Samson Not Playing RR vs LSG IPL 2025 Match?
Notably, RR captain Sanju Samson sustained an abdominal injury while batting in the previous encounter against Delhi Capitals. He was retired hurt on 31 off 19 deliveries and didn't come out to bat even in the super over.
Earlier, Samson underwent scans to determine the extent of his injury and RR head coach Rahul Dravid had revealed that his participation would be decided based on the scan results.
As it seems, his injury is more serious than what it looked like in real time. However, it remains to be seen when he will get back into action.
Samson has had a topsy-turvy IPL 2025 campaign, scoring 224 runs at an average of 32 and a strike rate of 143.59. RR have replaced Samson with Shubham Dubey in the playing XI.
