The Champions Trophy 2025 is all set to unfold on February 19 after lot of deliberations and debates regarding the structure of the tournament. All of that is done and dusted now and expect India matches and the knockouts including Men in Blue, all other matches will be played in Pakistan.

It means that Rohit Sharma's boys will play all their matches in Dubai and  it would be interesting to see how the final squad shapes up. The Indian circuit is full of quality players, and so there are bound to be some deserving and talented cricketers who will miss out from final 15 and it includes some stars from IPL as well.

Though the Indian Premier League is played in T20 format, but the fans always back their respective franchise irrespective of the nature of the game, and let's now see who could be the three MI players to miss out from Champions Trophy squad.

Tilak Varma

Tilak Varma is one of the finest young talents in Indian cricket and recently took world cricket by storm with two consecutive unbeaten hundreds in T20Is against South Africa. The southpaw has shown tremendous consistency in domestic cricket across formats and has been superb for MI in IPL as well.

Tilak Varma has one fifty in four ODIs he has played so far, but has good List A record with five hundreds and eight fifties in 36 matches. His average is close to 50 and he surely has the skills to succeed in 50-over format at the international level. However, the middle order is already jam-packed with proven performers and Tilak Varma does not seem to be in scheme of things in ODI format currently.

So, expecting an inexperienced player to directly get a place in the Champions Trophy squad is a big ask, and Tilak Varma is all set to miss the marquee tournament.

Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav has been India's best T20 batter for a long time. He is the leader for India in the format now, but has not been part of ODIs since the 2023 World Cup. His performance in that World Cup was also not upto the mark and it seems that selectors have decided to move on from the 360-degree batter in the longer format.

Also, India have the options of Rishabh Pant, Nitish Reddy and Riyan Parag now who are likely to be backed in place of SKY who has an average of just 32.72 in List A. He could not get going in the recently held Vijay Hazare Trophy and bagged two consecutive ducks. So, Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian T20I skipper is all set to be absent from the squad for Champions Trophy 2025.

Deepak Chahar

The right-arm pacer has been plagued by injuries throughout his career and after being released by CSK, Chahar has been bought by another high-profile franchise, Mumbai Indians. He is now fit and bowled decently in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025 and picked seven wickets in six innings.

Overall, he has 89 wickets in 66 List A matches while in the 13 ODIs, he has picked 16 wickets. He can contribute with the bat as well. However, he has been out of national selectors radar for a long time, and last played an ODI in 2022. Thus, Chahar has not been in the scheme of things for a long time and with young bowlers like Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar, Harshit Rana coming up, Chahar is not even in the Champions Trophy discussion.
