One of the most anticipated Test series between Australia and Pakistan, named the Benaud–Qadir Trophy, will get underway from December 14 Down Under.

Unlike earlier tours, Pakistan are touring Australia for only a three-match Test series, which will be played across as many venues - Perth, Melbourne, and Sydney. The first Test will be played at the new Perth Stadium situated in Perth, and now the famous WACA Stadium, where opponents were left haunted by speed and bounce.

This will be Australia's first series as World Test Champions, having won the WTC Final 2021-23 against India earlier this year.

A win here could decide the course of the series, which could see a batting-friendly track at one of the two venues.

Perth Stadium Ground Stats

The new Perth Stadium, formally known as Optus Stadium, hosted its first Test back in 2018, and since has seen only two more red-ball games (Australia vs New Zealand in 2019, and Australia vs West Indies in 2022) being featured.

Interestingly, all matches have been won by teams batting first, which suggests that the conditions get tougher to bat as the Tests progress.

Australia are yet to lose a Test at the venue, having won all three played encounters. Pakistan, who are yet to win a Test in Down Under since 1995, will need to pull up their socks and outperform against an in-form opponent, who will want to kick start their new WTC 2023-25 cycle with a win.
