On Friday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) put all the speculations to rest as they unveiled their 15-man squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup. During the squad announcement, Naseem Shah’s omission was confirmed by Inzamam Ul Haq, who later named Hasan Ali as his replacement. With Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf firing on all cylinders, Hasan’s inclusion will further bolster their pace battery as they travel to India for the World Cup 2023.

While the 1992 World Cup champions boast of a formidable pace attack, their spin bowling department has significantly underperformed in recent times.

Pakistan's spin duo of Shadab Khan, and Mohammad Nawaz failed to deliver the goods for the Men In Green in the recently concluded Asia Cup tournament. Despite their lacklustre effort with the ball, the team management has decided to persist with them for the World Cup in India.

During the squad announcement press conference, Inzamam Ul Haq was asked to comment on the struggling form of the spin-bowling duo. Subsequently, a reporter also went on to draw a comparison with the likes of Kuldeep Yadav who tormented the batters of all types in that tournament.

Inzamam responded by saying that despite Kuldeep’s impressive numbers, he can never be picked for Pakistan. His witty, yet hilarious manner left everyone in splits.

"Aapne ekdum sahi stats nikaale hain, par Kuldeep Yadav ko main select nahi kar sakta (Your stats are absolutely correct, but the thing is, I can't select Kuldeep Yadav)."

While further justifying his decision to pick Shadab and Nawaz, Inzamam explained that the team management has high hopes from them and also added that Usama Mir has been picked as a third spinner. Pakistan will be seen in action on September 27th in a warm-up fixture against New Zealand in Hyderabad.
