Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav were instrumental in leading India to a five-wicket victory over West Indies in the first One-Day International (ODI) of the three-match series at Kensington Oval, Barbados.

The Jadeja-Kuldeep duo decimated West Indies

Their dynamic partnership on the field derailed the Caribbean side's batting order, leaving them stumbling at an underwhelming total of 114.

While Jadeja clinched 3 wickets, giving away 37 runs in his six overs, the showstopper was Kuldeep Yadav, who captured four key West Indian wickets in a stunning three-over spell that cost a mere six runs. Their conjoint performance resulted in the hosts being bowled out for a dismal total.

Following the first WI vs IND ODI, the bowling duo sat down for a lively exchange in which they discussed the game's highlights, including their performances and Virat Kohli's spectacular low catch to send off Romario Shepherd without a score.

The conversation filled with camaraderie and humour was shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Twitter.

Jadeja started the conversation, ribbing Kuldeep about his new haircut, saying, “I have with me Kuldeep Yadav who has got a cool haircut from India and is donning it in such hot weather.” To this, Kuldeep responded in jest, "I am following Jaddu bhai (Jadeja) in everything."

Reflecting on their stellar performance, Jadeja commented, "I feel, as a bowling unit, we worked like a hunting pair."

They went on to discuss Kohli's sharp catch off Jadeja's bowling, with the all-rounder noting, "It feels nice when someone takes such an amazing catch off my bowling as generally it’s me who takes catches off others’ bowling."

Coming to the game, chasing a modest 115, India sent young openers Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill. Early setbacks saw Gill dismissed for seven and Suryakumar Yadav for 19. Subsequently, despite Hardik Pandya's run out for five, Kishan's composed 52 kept India in the game.

Following his dismissal, Ravindra Jadeja stepped in and alongside Shardul Thakur, aimed to seal the win. However, Thakur's departure forced captain Rohit Sharma to the crease. The duo of Rohit and Jadeja then ensured victory, overcoming early hurdles and securing a five-wicket win.
