India's premier off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin achieved a significant milestone by becoming only the second Indian and ninth player globally to secure 500 wickets in Test cricket. His dismissal of Zak Crawley during the ongoing third Test in Rajkot on day 2 placed him among the elite ranks, alongside legendary Indian leg-spinner Anil Kumble.

Following the wicket, Ashwin's teammates gathered around him, offering congratulations and recognizing him as just the second Indian cricketer to achieve this milestone.

Social media erupted with congratulatory messages after this special achievement. From Sachin Tendulkar to Nathan Lyon, all showered praise on the wily off-spinner for reaching this remarkable feat.

However, the most heartfelt message came from Ashwin's parents, who expressed their pride and joy at their son's accomplishment. In an interview with Jio Cinema at the end of Day 2 of the Rajkot Test, Ashwin's father shared his happiness and reflected on the challenges his son had overcome in his cricketing journey.

"Ashwin, I am very, very happy to see you take Crawley's 500th Test wicket. It was truly enjoyable and memorable for me, and will remain so forever. Despite all the hurdles, you have persevered with happiness and determination. You did it; continue to excel," Ashwin's father said.

In a short yet heartfelt message, Ashwin's mother conveyed her joy and pride, stating that they had eagerly awaited this achievement.

"Congratulations on your 500 wickets. We have been waiting for this moment for a long time, and it is truly special for someone from Tamil Nadu to achieve this," Ashwin's mother conveyed her sentiments.

Meanwhile, Ashwin had to leave the Indian team abruptly on Friday night due to a family medical emergency. While the exact reason was not disclosed, Rajeev Shukla, the vice president of the BCCI, revealed that Ashwin's mother is unwell and has been hospitalized. Ashwin rushed back to be by her side.

Rohit Sharma and his team will now have to cope without their star bowler for the remainder of the game, leaving them in a precarious position, especially considering England's strong counter attacking response to India's total of 445 runs.
