'We Decided To Meet In Nightclub': Ben Stokes Issues Clarification Post Australia Media Sparks Controversy

The hotly-contested Ashes 2023 came to a rousing end with the fifth and final Test going in favour of the hosts England, which helped them finish the series 2-2, with Australia retaining the coveted urn. However, post the conclusion of the series, social media has been abuzz about England's rejection of customary post-series meet-ups with Australian players.

Skipper Ben Stokes, who has been instrumental in England's revival in Tests, and also in the series, took to social media and clarified such claims. Stokes posted that rather than the dressing room, both teams decided to gather in a nightclub as the Engalnd team was busy with send-offs for Stuart Broad and Moeen Ali post-match.

"To clarify…Our wrap took longer than expected because of multiple last time event’s. We decided to meet up in the night club rather than the dressing room "


Several Australian media outlets criticised the England team for their rejection, which came after probably one of the best Ashes series in recent times. 

The Pat Cummins-led side won the first two Test at Birmingham and Lord's, while England won the third encounter at Leeds to stay alive. The fourth Test finished in a draw, thanks to rain robbing England a win.
