On Sunday, July 7, BCCI secretary Jay Shah released a video where he congratulated the Indian side on winning the T20 World Cup 2024 and specially dedicated the win to Rahul Dravid, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja. 

He gave a special mention to the veteran players as they announced their retirement from the T20Is, while it was Rahul Dravid's last assignment as India's head coach.

In the video, Jay Shah also confirmed India's participation in the 2025 Champions Trophy and stated that Rohit Sharma would lead the Men in Blue in the elite fifty-over tournament set to be hosted by Pakistan next year.

The BCCI secretary  also made a bold remark similar to the one he made in Rajkot where he predicted that India would win the T20 World Cup in Barbados and hoist the flag over there. In the latest events, Shah made a similar promise and added that India will win the Champions Trophy 2025 under Sharma's leadership and also the WTC finals in 2025.

There were speculations over India's participation in the 2025 Champions Trophy as the board is not willing to send the Indian side to Pakistan. However, it is unclear whether PCB and ICC would approve a hybrid model as proposed by BCCI during Asia Cup.
