India won against Pakistan by 6 wickets in match 5 of Champions Trophy 2025. In an honest admission, Axar Patel, the non-striker, recalled the jitters of winning the match as Virat Kohli struck a hundred.
This mega rivalry between India and Pakistan continued in Dubai on February 23 when the two countries met in Group A clash of the Champions Trophy 2025. Pakistan posted 241 runs on the board batting first which seemed a good total.
However, Shubman Gill’s 46 off 52 balls resistance helped India with a good platform before superstar Virat Kohli took over the responsibility of the chase.
Axar Patel reveals batting for Virat Kohli’s hundred
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli seemed to be falling short of his hundred during the final hour of the game. Batting at 96, India needed just 2 runs to win the game with Pakistan bowlers resorting to unruly tactics.
Axar Patel, Kohli’s partner at the non-striker’s end, played a composed knock to ensure the star batter reached his milestone. Talking to the media after the game, Patel said:
"I was doing the math for Virat Kohli's hundred at the end. I was just hoping not to edge the ball, I had a lot of fun.”
Kohli eventually slammed a boundary to get his 100* off 111 balls, including 7 boundaries. He scored maximum runs by running between the wickets in what turned out to be a fighting knock.
