Enjoying spectacular form at the crease and relishing the extra pressure of captaincy, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has been ticking off all boxes at his end in his pursuit to clinch the ultimate glory for the country at the ICC World Cup 2023.

The experienced opener has donned the aggressive avatar and hammered 503 runs in his nine innings at a valiant strike rate of 121.49, making a deeper influence and impact on Team India's fortunes in the marquee competition.

As a captain, Rohit has overseen the mighty Indian juggernaut to an incredible 9-0 winning streak during the league stage, guiding his troops as an inspirational figure with the bat and marshalling his resources with absolute distinction.

For all his qualities, it's the determination on the face of the 36-year-old which has stolen the Indian fans' hearts as they back Rohit and the rest to reclaim world cricket's biggest crown. Rohit's childhood coach Dinesh Lad, however, revealed this sense of determination and passion is also down to the likelihood of it being the Mumbaikar's last World Cup for India.

Rohit Sharma Playing His Last World Cup?

Speaking to ANI, Lad indicated conversations with the Indian cricketer are that this could be his last World Cup in India jersey as it would be improbable for him to turn up for the 2027 edition in South Africa at the age of 40.

"Chances really look as if this could be his last World Cup. The way he is progressing... because he is 36 now and the next World Cup is in 4 years and generally at the age of 40 cricketers don't play. But I feel that this could be his last World Cup," Lad said.

"He also wants to win the cup for the country. Because he was not a part of the 2011 World Cup-winning team India. It will be really proud moment for me to see the World Cup in his [Rohit] hands. He has been a positive cricketer since the very beginning and it is his plus point."
