'Things Have Been Very Unfair': Hardik Pandya After Starring In India T20 WC Win

India clinched its second T20 World Cup title by defeating South Africa by 7 runs in a nail-biting final in Barbados on Saturday, ending an 11-year ICC title drought since their Champions Trophy win in 2013. 

The Indian pacers snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, with South Africa needing 30 runs off the last 20 balls.

Hardik Pandya, who faced criticism as the Mumbai Indians captain in IPL 2024, has been silencing his detractors with some brilliant bowling and batting in the tournament.

He once again delivered in the final by taking the crucial wicket of Heinrich Klaasen with the Proteas needing 26 off 24 balls, before eventually finishing with figures of 3/20 from 3 overs.


Hardik Pandya got emotional after India's win

Speaking after the T20 WC final, Hardik Pandya expressed deep emotions, acknowledging the hard work of the team and their struggle to find the winning formula, but felt they had finally delivered what the nation longed for.

"It's very emotional. We've been working very hard, but something wasn't clicking. Today, we fulfilled what the whole nation wanted," said an emotional Hardik.

He reflected on his difficult journey over the past six months, highlighting his belief that perseverance would eventually allow him to shine.

"Things have been very unfair, but I believe that if I keep working hard, there will come a time when I can shine and do what I've always done. Winning was a dream, and having an opportunity like this makes it even more special,” added the lanky all-rounder.

Hardik Pandya further credited his teammates, particularly praising the pacers for applying pressure and executing their plans effectively. Healso expressed his satisfaction for coach Rahul Dravid, highlighting their strong relationship and the significant role of the support staff in this victory.

"We always believed we could do it; it was about executing our plans and letting the pressure come to them. Credit to Jassi and the other bowlers for changing everything. I'm very happy for Rahul Dravid—really enjoyed working with him. Giving him a farewell like this is wonderful. I’ve had a great relationship with him,” remarked Hardik.

With this victory, India has not only lifted the trophy but also regained their place at the top of world cricket.
