Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag, who helped the nation lift the 2011 World Cup with high-class power-hitting, has commented on the team's senior-most players, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. While speaking on Cricbuzz, Sehwag revealed that he feels for Rohit as he previously missed out on selection for the World Cup in India.

He also said it was unfortunate for him to miss the global event despite being among the best players. Adding that he really wants Rohit to lift the upcoming 2023 World Cup.

"Rohit Sharma is a great player, unfortunately, he missed the 2011 WC, but he really deserves to win the 2023 World Cup. I want him to win this one,"

Regarding Kohli and Rohit's farewell, Sehwag wants them to get their hands on the trophy before bidding goodbye to the game.

"Kohli and Rohit should get a glittering farewell, these two senior players deserve to win the World Cup,"

Further, speaking on Kohli's performance in the mega-events, he uttered that Virat should score the most runs in the tournament to get a rousing adieu like Sachin Tendulkar got when he retired.

"Cheeku (Virat) didn't score a single century in the 2019 World Cup, this year I hope he scores many hundreds and ends up as the leading run-scorer in the tournament. Then, I want him to be carried on the shoulders across the ground."

India are currently involved in the warm-ups before the World Cup, where they will play their first game against Australia on 8th October in Chennai.
