Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka has credited his side's bowlers for helping the team achieve an easy five-wicket win against Bangladesh at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

Despite losing the toss, Sri Lanka had everything going in their favour as the likes of Matheesha Pathirana, Maheesh Theekshana and Dhananjaya de Silva allowed the Bangladesh batters no breathing space, eventually bowling them out for 164 runs.

Pathirana, Theekshana and Dhananjaya took four, two, and one wicket respectively. Shanaka lauded the trio for their bowling efforts.

"The way bowlers executed, credit to them. Especially Theekshana up front, Dhananjaya, and Pathirana who's bowling so well," Shanaka said as quoted in the post-match presentation.

The captain applauded Sadeera Samarawickrama and Charith Asalanka. The duo brought Sri Lanka out of trouble when they were 43-3 and stitched a 78-run stand to steady the ship, managing the score individual fifties as well.

"Sadeera, the way he batted, he took a chance and did a great job. And Charith has been doing this for Sri Lanka for the past two years. Once again, he was brilliant."

Starting off their campaign with a victory, Shanaka and Co. are in a commanding position. They have another group game scheduled against Afghanistan on September 5 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
