Rocking the World Cup 2023 with his explosive hundred, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was back at his best when he smashed the Afghanistan bowlers to all parts of the ground in Delhi to bring up his seventh hundred in World Cup history. His 131 helped India chase the opposition's 273 within 35 overs, which also was the fastest century by an Indian in the World Cup, as he only took 63 deliveries to achieve the milestone.

After the game, Rohit spoke about his match-winning century, where he mentioned that it was getting better to bat after he had set himself in. He said getting a World Cup hundred is a special feeling, and he only wanted to stay focused while batting. Smashing five biggies and 16 boundaries, Sharma revealed that some of his shots were premeditated.

"It was a good pitch to bat on, just backed myself to play my natural game. I knew once I got my eye in, the wicket was going to get easier for me. Something that I have been working on from a long time. It's a special feeling to get a World Cup hundred. Really happy with that. Don't want to think too much, I don't want to lose my focus. You need to make such things count. You gotta make it big. Some of my shots are premeditated."

Rohit also credited the instincts that take over and generally go well for him as he always tries to get these kinds of starts in run-chases. Adding that going hard after the bowlers is a double-edged sword as either he scores big or gets out early, but he wants to ensure the opposition is under pressure.

"I let my instincts take over at times, sometimes it really works well. It's my job to make sure to get those starts especially in run chases. That's something I have done in the past and something I love doing. Sometimes it (attacking the bowlers) works, sometimes it doesn't. Just need to keep doing it and keep putting oppositions under pressure going forward."

India's second victory of the tournament have given them two crucial points, and their next target are their arch-rivals Pakistan, whom they will face on 14th October in Ahmedabad.
