KL Rahul hailed skipper Rohit Sharma for his valiant starts throughout the ICC World Cup 2023. The experienced top-order batter has been providing India blistering knocks against the new ball and virtually ending contests in the first 10 overs. Rahul said Rohit's transition into an excellent aggressor has made his job easier in the middle-order for India.

While Rohit's exceptional blitz against Afghanistan and Pakistan were highly praised, an understated example of the man's mighty influence on India's fortunes came via a quickfire 48 off 40 deliveries in the chase of 257 against Bangladesh in Pune on Thursday (October 19).

Aware of the nature of the surface in Pune, which played two-paced with the old-ball, Rohit maximised the first powerplay in a fantastic knock and shared a match-winning opening stand with half-centurion Shubman Gill.

Even when Rohit got dismissed, he was out playing an extravagant pull shot to the square leg region. But the man's knock allowed the great Virat Kohli and Rahul in the middle order to bide time at the crease and take India through with a measured 83-run partnership. While Kohli smashed his famous 48th international century, Rahul bolstered his stocks with an intelligent 34* off 34 deliveries.

Rahul Hails Rohit For Top-Order Blitz

Speaking after the match to Star Sports, Rahul attributed the stability and success enjoyed by the Indian middle-order to Rohit's influence and impact at the top of the order in matches against Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

The modern-day giant has recovered with gusto from the disappointment of a duck versus the Australians in India's opening game to currently stand at the top of the runs-chart for his team at a tremendous strike rate of 137.71.

"Rohit Sharma makes our job easier - when you have someone like him that is going really hard in powerplay then it becomes easier in middle order,"  Rahul said.

Rohit will be determined to continue his majestic ways as India gear-up for their next fixture of the ICC World Cup 2023 in Dharamshala on Sunday (October 22) against New Zealand.
