Pakistan batter, Ahmed Shehzad recently claimed that if given the opportunity, he would always opt for a Pakistan Super League (PSL) contract over an Indian Premier League (IPL) contract, even though he himself admits that the latter is still the number one T20 league in the world.

A T20 veteran himself, Shehzad made this bold claim upon being asked to choose between contracts if he were to receive lucrative offers from both leagues simultaneously.

Shehzad says will pick PSL because nation comes first

Pakistan cricketer Ahmed Shehzad recently interacted with Momin Saqib on the latter’s talk show. During their interaction, the 32-year-old opening batsman was asked what contract he would choose if he were to receive both at the same time, an offer from PSL or the one from IPL.

Shehzad, who described the IPL as the number one T20 league in the world, stated that he would choose an offer from PSL every time because he always wants to put his nation first. He said:

“Definitely PSL. I don’t want to be politically correct here, IPL is still the number one league in the world, and we need to take PSL up to that level. One needs to put their country first.”

Shehzad’s patriotic gesture aside, Pakistan players are not allowed to participate in IPL owing to prevailing political tensions between the two countries.

Several prominent Pakistan stars like Shoaib Akhtar, Sohail Tanveer and Shahid Afridi among others did feature in the inaugural edition of the tournament before the Indian government imposed a ban on all ‘Men in Green’ players.
