New Zealand's rising young allrounder Rachin Ravindra feels "pretty surreal" when asked to sum up his two years at the international stage.

Making his debut on September 21, Ravindra completed his two years for the BlackCaps as a bright all-format pick at the onset of the recently concluded ICC World Cup 2023. Having just turned 24, he has already represented New Zealand in 3 Tests, 22 ODIs and 18 T20Is.

The quadrennial event in India saw the youngster transform into one of the finest players in world cricket as his surprising promotion to open the innings saw the left-hander spur on to produce 578 runs in his 10 innings, including three spectacular centuries.

Apart from his batting feats, the 24-year-old contributed perfectly to the balance of the Kiwis outfit by rolling his arms over with effective left-arm spin bowling and taking five wickets at an economy of less than six.

Rachin Ravindra Sums Up Journey At International Cricket

Now approaching the Test match tour of Bangladesh, Ravindra had the time to sit back and reflect upon his journey so far despite a super quick turnaround between assignments and the difficult switch from ODIs to Tests.

"Pretty surreal," he told ESPNcricinfo when questioned about his feelings upon completing two successful years for the BlackCaps. "Things have happened quite quickly, and I am very fortunate to be here right now."

"At my age, being able to travel around the world playing cricket, playing a game you love, for a living is pretty special. [It] definitely has its ups and downs, but mostly I love every single moment. Look, I think it's a testament to the team environment: to be able to come in and play with freedom, and enjoy my time learning from those guys who have been here for so long. It's been great to rub shoulders with everyone, and hopefully I can keep learning from them," Ravindra added.

The earnest and aspirational cricketer will be hoping to continue in his rich vein across formats for New Zealand on the last leg of their subcontinent trip and also over the forthcoming summer where the Kiwis head into another limited-overs home series versus Bangladesh and Pakistan and take on South Africa and Australia in their successive set of World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 matches.
