Australian captain Pat Cummins has cautioned the visiting Indian team led by Rohit Sharma to be wary of another bouncer-barrage at The Gabba in Brisbane. Cummins, alongside Mitchell Starc and Scott Boland bounced out the visiting Indians to secure an emphatic series-levelling 10-wicket victory at the Adelaide Oval last week.

Captain Cummins himself claimed match-winning figures of 5-57 in the second Indian innings, after Starc swung his way to an astonishing six-wicket haul on Day 1.

While addressing the media ahead of Australia’s third Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test against India at The Gabba, Pat Cummins was asked if Rohit Sharma’s visiting drawcards can expect another barrage of short-pitched deliveries.

Without ruling out the possibility, Cummins responded:

“Yes, potentially.”

The Australian skipper added that the strategy worked out for his team in Adelaide, and his bowlers might give it another shot at some point of the impending Brisbane Test.

Australia crumbled to a 295-run larruping at the Perth Stadium in November to go 0-1 down in the five-match Test series. However, the hosts responded back strongly in Adelaide with a 10-wicket triumph over Team India.

After bowling out India for 180 on Day 1, the hosts secured a massive 157-run lead courtesy of Travis Head’s run-a-ball 140. Mitchell Starc picked up career-best figures of 6-48 in the first Indian innings while his pace mates Pat Cummins and Scott Boland also chipped in with two apiece.

Without featuring a single half-century, Team India folded up for another paltry score in the second innings, this time falling victim to an electric five-wicket haul from Cummins.

With the series tied at 1-1, age-old rivals Australia and India will collide in the impending third Test of the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 series at The Gabba, Brisbane between December 14 and December 18.
