Former England pacer, Stuart Broad heaped praise on Pakistani speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi, describing him as one of his favourite bowlers.

The admiration came during an interview conducted by Broad and veteran Indian wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik before a match in the 2023 edition of the Hundred Men’s competition, where Shaheen represents Welsh Fire.

Broad, having recently concluded his Ashes Test career, commended Shaheen's energetic bowling style.

Broad, a long-standing member of Nottinghamshire Outlaws, also acknowledged Shaheen's stint with the team earlier in the T20 Blast this year, considering Nottingham's significance to him. He lauded Shaheen's natural skill, particularly his ability to swing the ball back into right-handers, and expressed his admiration for the Pakistani bowler's vibrant approach to his run-up.

"Shaheen Shah Afridi is one of my favourite bowlers to watch in the world. He has got such a great presence about him when he runs in, and I love bowlers run in with energy and vibrancy to their run-up. He has got such a natural skill – the way that ball swings back into the right-handers is such a pleasure to watch.

And he represented the Notts Outlaws this summer, which is close to my heart. He’s one of the bowlers I admire hugely, and I want to see him do well,”  Stuart Broad expressed in an interview with Sky Sports.

Shaheen Shah Afridi is currently playing for Welsh Fire in the 2023 edition of the Hundred Men’s competition. Following his Hundred stint, Shaheen is set to rejoin the Men in Green for the national duties for the Asia Cup 2023, scheduled from August 30 to September 17 in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Additionally, he is anticipated to play a pivotal role for Pakistan in the upcoming World Cup 2023, set to be held in India.
