In a remarkable turn of events at the Ranchi Test, Dhruv Jurel, India's 23-year-old keeper-batter, captured the cricketing fraternity's attention with his maiden Test fifty against England.

Making his debut in the Rajkot Test, Jurel didn't wait long to make his mark, hammering a maiden Test fifty in only his second match against England in Ranchi.

His commendable performance under pressure has not only won him accolades but also drawn comparisons with Indian cricket icon MS Dhoni, especially from the legendary Sunil Gavaskar.

Gavaskar, the former Indian captain, was particularly impressed by Jurel's performance behind the stumps and with the bat. During the live broadcast, Gavaskar said,

"I think this young player is the next MS Dhoni in the making because of the presence of mind that he displays."

This commendation comes in light of Jurel's crucial role in a brilliant run-out in Rajkot, which saw the back of England's Ben Duckett.

Jurel, who declared himself to be a Dhoni fan, reflected on his feelings for the former captain of India.

"I was just watching him and I stood up and started thinking is this MS Dhoni standing in front of me," Jurel said to the BCCI.

His dream of following in Dhoni's footsteps came to fruition as he hammered a resilient 90, propelling India to a competitive total of 307 in their first innings.

His performance was not just a statement of his potential but also an essential contribution under pressure, highlighting his capability to stand tall in challenging situations. England's veteran, Joe Root, also acknowledged Jurel's gritty innings, adding to the youngster's memorable Test.

As the match progressed, England found themselves at 142 for eight as of writing, having a lead of 188 runs.
