Sarfaraz Khan has lavished a significant praise on his younger brother Musheer Khan after receiving a surprise call-up to the Indian squad for the second Test of their five-match series against England.

Young Musheer, meanwhile, is currently in South Africa for the 2024 Under-19 World Cup. After mauling Irish attack with a match-winning 118, the 19-year-old Mumbai-based batting prodigy whacked another 131 against New Zealand in their opening Super Six tie at Bloemfontein.

Test bound Sarfaraz Khan praises younger brother

Sarfaraz Khan, averaging nearly 70 in first-class cricket, recently described his younger brother Musheer Khan a better batter than him.

Sarfaraz, aged 26, claimed that whenever he is struggling to score, he seeks confidence from his brother’s technique.

"Musheer is a better batter than me. Sometimes, I may be struggling, but watching his technique and trying to work out what he's doing would give me confidence. When I'm not batting well, I look at him and learn," Sarfaraz told in an interview to ESPNcricinfo.

Both Sarfaraz Khan and Musheer Khan have shared the same dressing room for Mumbai in Ranji Trophy.

After toiling away for nearly a decade in domestic cricket, Sarfaraz eventually landed a call-up to the national side for India’s upcoming second Test match against England. The 26-year-old was included in India’s 17-member squad as an injury replacement for KL Rahul.

He might well earn his maiden cap when Team India takes field at Visakhapatnam on February 2 for the all-important second Test of their five-match series.

Young Musheer Khan, on the other hand, continues to stack up runs for India Under-19 at the Under-19 World Cup 2024 in South Africa. The 19-year-old tallied 325 runs from his first four innings of the tournament, and also delivered a match-winning spell against Bangladesh Under-19 earlier in the competition.
