The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday announced the schedule for the upcoming Cricket World Cup 2023 in a star-studded event in Mumbai, attended by former India opener Virender Sehwag and former Sri Lanka off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan. The upcoming 10-nation event will begin on October 5 and will conclude on November 19.

Both Sehwag and Muralitharan recalled memories from the 2011 World Cup, which hosts India won beating Sri Lanka in the final at Wankhede in Mumbai.

Sehwag, who scored a two-ball duck in the final, revealed a secret, relating to former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

As said to Star Sports, the 'Nawab of Najargarh' said that Dhoni only ate 'Khichdi' during the duration of the 2011 WC event, making everyone in the team superstitious about the same. Khichdi is a preparation made out of rice and lentils cooked together.

Here's what Sehwag revealed about MSD:

"MS Dhoni ate only khichdi throughout the 2011 World Cup. Everyone was being superstitious for the event".

In the same event, Muralitharan also praised Dhoni, for coming up batting the order and negating his threat against remaining batters.

"I knew why MS Dhoni came above. Yuvraj didn't have a great record against me and Dhoni had played me in IPL nets."

India open their CWC campaign against former five-time champions Australia on October 8, while Sri Lanka have moved into the Super Sixes stage of the ongoing ICC CWC Qualifiers 2023 in Zimbabwe.
