As the world knows about the infamous thrills of the India-Pakistan rivalry but it took a dramatic turn in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 clash as each moment has been a moment of war. After clashing in the group stage, the arch-rivals met again in the Super Four, where Suryakumar Yadav and his boys had the final laugh, claiming a memorable victory.

With two consecutive defeats against the arch-rivals, Pakistan faced harsh criticism from their own fans and experts. Former skipper Wasim Akram didn’t hold back, slamming their bowling and saying Team India outclassed them in every department.

In every fierce face-off, India and Pakistan stepped into the field with a winning mindset, but the game decides the final result. In recent years, the Men in Blue have often held the upper hand, while the Men in Green struggled to find their rhythm. The ongoing Asia Cup 2025 is also no exception, as Suryakumar Yadav and Co. secured victories in both matches.

Despite being in a good phase while batting first, Pakistan had a bizarre collapse and faced a heartbreaking 6-wicket defeat. Speaking on Sony Sports, former skipper Wasim Akram  criticized the Men in Green for their poor form and the humiliating defeat.

“India outplayed Pakistan in all three departments, and it has happened over the last four or five years. We (Pakistan) have only won once or twice, here and there. Pakistan's batting - From 91/1 in 10 overs to 171 (in 20 overs) is not good enough. You should get to 200,” Akram said.

Blasting at the shocking bowling plan

While defending a modest total of 171, Pakistan’s bowlers stumbled from the start. Abhishek Sharma tore through the attack, while Abrar Ahmed and Saim Ayub struggled, leaking runs. Reflecting on their failure, Wasim Akram took a jab at their questionable bowling plan.

“When you're defending against such a strong side and you have a good score on the board, what should you do? You need to give your main bowlers a couple of overs, be it Shaheen Afridi or whoever. But you gave Abrar Ahmed three overs out of seven. The game was over by then,” he added.

Starting the Super Four stage with a humiliating defeat against Team India, they find themselves in a tough spot. With their next clash against Sri Lanka looming, they’ll be aiming for a strong bounce-back to stay alive in the tournament.
