Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur, currently featuring in the ongoing Hundred competition, has demanded more Women's Tests. Kaur, 34, regarded as one of the finest strikers, has featured in just three Tests, which is negligible compared to the white-ball matches she has played for India.

Interestingly, India are scheduled to play just two Tests in the 2022-2025 Women's Future Tour Programme. Team India will host England and Australia in one Test apiece in the 2023-24 cycle. During the same cycle, England, Australia and South Africa will play five, four and three Tests, respectively.

Speaking on Sky Sports Cricket Podcast, Kaur explained that playing Test cricket will only improve women's game going forward.

'I definitely want more Tests'- Harmanpreet Kaur

"As a player, I definitely want more Tests because, as a growing kid, we saw more Tests on TV than T20s. Nowadays, it's a lot of fun playing T20s, but Test cricket is something every cricketer wants to play."

"This year we have two Tests - one against England and one against Australia, and I hope those games can make a huge impact on women's cricket and, hopefully, in the future, we will keep getting more Test matches. We have to bring back Test matches in women's cricket because it's very important for women's cricket."

The Mumbai Indians captain also wished that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) resumes multi-day women's matches in the domestic circuit, which was last held in the 2017-18 season.

"It is improving day by day but in my early days we used to play two- and three-day games which we are really missing, and I'm sure after these two Test matches hopefully we'll get two-day matches back. The more cricket we get, the more improvement we'll see in women's cricket," she concluded.

India last played a Test back in 2021, when they toured England, and since then have been engaged in white-ball cricket only.
