South Africa's wicket-keeper batter, Quinton de Kock, is determined to cap off his ODI cricket career with a World Cup victory this year. The left-handed opening batter has also expressed his desire for a life beyond cricket and a complete disconnect from the game after retiring.

De Kock recently announced his retirement from ODI cricket, effective after the upcoming 50-over World Cup scheduled to commence on October 5 in India. The southpaw had previously retired from Test cricket in 2022 and will now solely focus on the T20 format. However, he intends to remain available for T20Is, although primarily when they don't conflict with more lucrative franchise opportunities.

The 30-year-old de Kock shared his plans for life post-retirement, which include pursuits like fishing and golf, among others, indicating a desire for a diverse set of experiences.

"I’ve played a lot of cricket already. I’ll give the World Cup my best shot. I would like to tick off an ICC event. I don’t see myself being involved in the game in any way when I stop playing. I want a life after cricket,"  said Quinton de Kock (as quoted by SA Cric Mag)

Having made his ODI debut in 2013, de Kock has enjoyed a prolific career, amassing 6176 runs in 145 matches at an impressive average of 44.75, featuring 17 centuries. However, his performance in World Cup tournaments has been relatively modest, with 450 runs at an average of 30.00.

With the upcoming World Cup taking place in India, De Kock's extensive IPL experience and his participation in numerous Proteas tours to India provide him with valuable insights into navigating the challenging Indian conditions.

The South African team, led by Temba Bavuma, is set to arrive in India on Tuesday, September 26. They will engage in a couple of warm-up matches against Afghanistan and New Zealand before commencing their World Cup campaign on October 7 against Sri Lanka at Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium.
