Punjab Kings captain Shikhar Dhawan is due for a big score, according to former Indian batter Robin Uthappa.

The dashing opener recently punched out scores of 45 and 70 against RCB and LSG respectively before he was accounted for a just a run against Gujarat Titans in his most recent IPL 2024 outing.

Uthappa believes Shikhar Dhawan will likely come up trumps against SRH in match number 23 of the tournament at Mullanpur on April 9.

While speaking on JioCinema, Robin Uthappa praised Shikhar Dhawan for his consistent run with the bat across all IPL seasons. The cricketer-turned-commentator claimed that Dhawan has already set high standards for himself as an opener and is often found among the top run-scoring charts of IPL.

Uthappa even predicted the dashing opener to come up trumps against SRH while leading his PBKS troops at Mullanpur on April 9.

“Shikhar Dhawan is due for a big score and we seldom see him going through an IPL without scoring big scores. I am amped up to see him score well and see him score big runs. He has set some high standards for himself as an opening batter and has always been among the runs in the IPL. I am predicting a big score from Shikhar Dhawan.”

Shikhar Dhawan has already scored 138 runs across four innings this IPL 2024 season at an average of 34.50. The dashing left-hander scored 70 of those runs during Punjab Kings’ high-scoring bout against LSG on March 30.

Under his leadership, the Punjab Kings franchise is currently placed at number six on the IPL 2024 points table, with two wins and two defeats to their name out of four matches.

Shikhar Dhawan and co. will now face SRH in a mid-table clash on April 9 at Mullanpur’s Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium.
