Rajasthan Royals’ Kwena Maphaka found himself at the centre of a lighthearted behind-the-scenes moment when teammates Kumar Kartikeya and Vaibhav Suryavanshi plotted a prank in Hindi, assuming the South African speedster wouldn’t understand.

A video shared by RR on their social media handle captured the duo scheming to stick notes on unsuspecting players during their Chandigarh-to-Ahmedabad journey, blissfully unaware that Kwena Maphaka – clueless about the language – stood right beside them.

Maphaka's Short And Simple Answer To Suryavanshi's Query

At the beginning of the video, Kartikeya and Vaibhav Suryavanshi were seen plotting for the sticking game that is when they found Maphaka and asked him about his knowledge of Hindi.

"Hindi samajh me aata hai? (Do you understand Hindi?)" Vaibhav Suryavanshi asked. "Do you?" Kumar Kartikeya added. "No I don't," Kwena Maphaka replied.

The clip, blending camaraderie and comedy, showcased Kartikeya’s prankster prowess as he successfully tagged six teammates, while Suryavanshi managed only two.

Maphaka’s RR Prospect

The 19-year-old Maphaka, bought by RR for INR 1.5 crore at the 2025 mega auction, is yet to debut for the franchise after a rocky start with Mumbai Indians in 2024.

Despite conceding 89 runs in his two matches in IPL 2024, the young pacer remains a developmental prospect. Royals, currently prepping for their Gujarat Titans clash on April 9, will hope Maphaka’s raw pace adds firepower to their attack as they eye a playoff push early in the league.
