After the Indian captain raised the issue of impact player rule potentially diminishing bowlers' role in IPL, ex-captain Virat Kohli doubled down on Rohit's opinion, saying that high-level cricket such as IPL should not be too dominant to either side.
Impact player rule in IPL was introduced last season as a medium for more opportunities to youngsters who would rather not fit into the everyday lineup. However, this year, the rule has proved to be a curse for bowlers as batting records are being shattered each day.
200+ runs total has become a new norm, which concerned Rohit Sharma as he raised his voice against the impact player rule last month. Rohit said the rule is destroying the essence of the game for the sake of entertainment.

Now, his peer Virat Kohli has shed light on the criticisms saying he completely agrees with Rohit's opinion.

While speaking to Jio Cinema, Virat Kohli said that the T20 game has reached to a point where bowlers expect to get hit for a boundary almost every delivery. And IPL is high-level cricket, which shouldn't be too dominant on either said, opined Kohli.
The batter also added that not every team has an edge of having a Jasprit Bumrah or Rashid Khan to their side and that is such a disadvantage.
"I agree with Rohit about Impact player rule - I feel like the game has reached a point where bowlers feel like every ball is 6 or 4 - this is high level cricket, it shouldn't be too dominant - not every team has Bumrah/Rashid, I know Jay Bhai has mentioned that they will be reviewing it," Virat told Jiocinema
However, Virat Kohli is rest assured that BCCI will look into it as Secretary Jay Shah has already mentioned that he would review the impact player rule along with the franchises and other senior members.
