Australian superstar all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been RCB's biggest disappointment of the IPL 2024 season, with two ducks and a 7.75 average in four matches. Amid his horror run, former Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwary raised significant doubt on Maxwell's return on investment.

RCB endured their third loss of the IPL 2024 season in four games last night after the team failed to chase 182 runs against LSG in Chinnaswamy. While Mayank Yadav breathed fire with his extraordinary quick spells, RCB batting lineup lacked intent after the loss of Virat Kohli.

Glenn Maxwell, the supposed anchor of the team, fell for a duck to Mayank Yadav. That marked the Australian's second duck of the season, and his average fell to 7.75 in four games. Maxwell has been underachieving since the tournament's inauguration. 

After a duck in the league opener against CSK, Glenn went for three runs vs PBKS. While he showed signs of life against KKR with a 28-run knock, Maxwell again disappointed against LSG.

That being said, while talking to Cricbuzz, former KKR batter Manoj Tiwary criticized Maxwell for his ill form and opined that the batter is not justifying his hefty salary. While he received INR 11 crores on time, the performance is as bad as it gets. 

"He is receiving his salary on time. But not giving a match-winning performance for the team," said Manoj Tiwary. "RCB have always been considered a batting-heavy team but their line-up has failed to deliver. Neither their batters are getting runs nor their bowlers are performing good," he added.

Undeniably, RCB had put a lot of faith in Glenn Maxwell while retaining him for 11 crores ahead of the season. But his lackluster will only increase RCB's woes as they navigate their way through a competitive IPL season.
