Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Ambati Rayudu, who has closely observed the legendary MS Dhoni, revealed that the wicket-keeper batter has been focussing on his fitness in the last few years.

Despite being in his 40s, MS Dhoni maintains an impressive physical condition, evident in his agility as a wicketkeeper and his ability to hit the ball effortlessly.

While Dhoni's genetic strength may contribute to his performance, Rayudu emphasized that his dedication to fitness and power-hitting plays a big role in his success.

Over the past couple of years, MSD has committed himself to rigorous strength and conditioning routines, never compromising on his training regimen to ensure optimal physical fitness.

Ambati Rayudu highlighted Dhoni's disciplined approach to training, combined with his natural talent, which has allowed him to maintain his competitive edge even as he ages.

"In the last 2 years, he has been working really hard in the gym. He has been doing a lot of weights and also, he spends a lot of time in recovery. He tries to not get injured and looks after his muscles and body. Most importantly, I feel, he has been batting a lot and that’s what gets him going and he hits a lot of sixes in the nets," Ambati Rayudu told Star Sports.

Currently, Dhoni is contending with a muscle tear, which has restricted his batting time during the ongoing season.

As CSK prepares to face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on May 18 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, CSK's Thala will have to play a big role with the bat and behind the stumps in order to take the team through to the playoffs.
