As the 38-year-old bid goodbye, the cricket fraternity on Twitter paid him a heartfelt tribute as several former and present cricketers posted a thank-you note for the legend.
Ravichandran Ashwin is one of the most prolific spinners in Test cricket. In 106 Test matches, he scalped 537 wickets with a stellar economy of 2.83. Even with the bat, the veteran slammed six hundred and 14 half centuries. However, with age and lack of opportunities, the spin maestro closed curtains on his successful international cricket.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma confirmed in his press conference that Ashwin will no longer be a part of India’s squad for the Australia tour. He will leave for home this week, with Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja being the only two spinners on the squad.
As for the Border-Gavaskar trophy, the five-game series stays levelled at 1-1 after India miraculously saved the Gabba Test to settle for a draw. Australia had set up a challenging total of 275 runs. However, rain had the last laugh as play was called off in the final session of Day 5.
