In the cricketing world, talents like Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar are rare, yet the debate over who reigns supreme continues. Despite Kohli asking fans to end the comparisons, the discussion shows no sign of slowing down.
As fans endlessly debate the two legends, a bold statement from the former England pacer, Steve Harmison, caught everyone’s attention. Putting Tendulkar behind, he hailed King Kohli as the greatest cricketer.
Harmison declares Kohli the ultimate cricket GOAT
Sachin Tendulkar ruled the cricket world with his brilliance, but one question used to surface: who would be his successor? Continuing his cricketing excellence, Virat Kohli filled in the Master Blaster’s shoes, and the cricket world found another gem. Though King Kohli has always expressed his admiration for Tendulkar, the cricket world remained busy debating who truly is the best.
Recently, it turned out that it’s not just the fans, but former stars are also debating on this topic. Speaking to talkSport Cricket, former English pacer Steve Harmison boldly declared Virat Kohli as the greatest cricketer, placing him ahead of Sachin Tendulkar.
“I put Virat Kohli at number one over Sachin Tendulkar, and that would raise a lot of eyebrows. But I thought his career, and what he had to do in his career, was I thought the way the game changed over the course of this last ten years, Virat’s had to have deal with a hell of a lot more off the field stuff that would affect him on the field. I think for me, in the last 20-30 years, the greatest cricketer that has played the game, you take Shane Warne out, because he had come a lot before, I think it’s Virat Kohli,” he said.
Kohli stands tall as the undisputed legend of world cricket
Being Sachin Tendulkar’s true successor while carving his own legacy, Virat Kohli transformed himself into an undisputed hero of world cricket. Across the formats, Kohli has showcased his brilliance over the years. Idolising Tendulkar, Kohli crossed his historic record of 49 ODI hundreds as he smashed his 50th ODI hundred on the big stage of the 2023 ODI World Cup.
After retiring from Test and T20I cricket, King Kohli is making a much-anticipated return to ODIs. After the Champions Trophy 2025, he will return to where he belongs in the upcoming ODI series against Australia. Fans are waiting for some Kohli magic on the field.
