'Dravid Still Not Trending' - Former Teammate Demands Credits For Indian Coach

In a one-sided encounter, Team India annihilated Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2023 final on Sunday, September 17. They clinched their eighth Asia Cup title by winning with 10 wickets. Notably, this win is coach Rahul Dravid's first multinational trophy since stepping in as the head of Team India after the T20 World Cup 2021.

Indian fans never seem to cut Dravid any slack for his constant team experiments, but things took a turn recently when Dodda Ganesh, Dravid’s former Karnataka teammate and an ex-Indian cricketer, came out in his support and pointed out the hypocrisy of some fans.

Ganesh called Dravid the unsung hero of Indian cricket. He further made a strong point that whenever the team loses, Dravid takes the heat, but he rarely gets the credit when they win.

Here’s what Dodda Ganesh wrote on his official X account:

"India on the verge of a thumping win today in the #AsiaCup finals. And, Rahul Dravid is still not trending on X. Well, only the blame goes to Rahul when the team fails, but when the team wins, he’ll be forgotten. Well, the kind of world we live in. I so badly want India to win the #WC2023 for the sake of Rahul Dravid. The unsung hero of Indian cricket."

Speaking of the game, Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first, a decision which backfired big time as they got bowled out for mere 50 runs. Mohammed Siraj was the star of the show, decimating their batting order with a stupendous six-wicket haul from his seven overs.

Shubman Gill (27*) and Ishan Kishan (23*) then chased down the target in 6.1 overs to help India lift the trophy for the eighth time. Winning the Asia Cup must have injected a dose of confidence into Team India as they prepare for the ICC World Cup 2023.
