Rinku Singh, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) finisher, has been left heartbroken after being excluded from Team India’s T20 World Cup squad for the tournament held in the USA and West Indies. 

His father, Khanchandra Singh, expressed his emotions openly, revealing the family's disappointment and sadness over Rinku's omission.

In a candid interview with Bharat 24, Singh disclosed how the family had eagerly anticipated Rinku's inclusion in the squad, even preparing sweets and fireworks to celebrate the news.

However, their hopes were dashed when Rinku's name was missing from the final eleven.

 "Umeedein to bohot thi, hum mithai, patakhe laye they, socha tha wo 11 main khelega. Isliye thoda dukh bhi hai," he said.

Khanchandra Singh further revealed the depth of Rinku's disappointment, stating that his son's heart was broken after learning about his exclusion. 

Despite being named in the travel reserves alongside Avesh Khan, Shubman Gill, and Khaleel Ahmed, Rinku's dream of representing his country in the T20 World Cup was shattered.

Rinku Singh's absence from the squad is particularly disheartening considering his stellar performance in international T20Is, where he boasted an impressive average of 89 and a striking rate of 176.23 in 11 innings. 

His ability to excel as a finisher, demonstrated by memorable innings such as hitting five consecutive sixes in an IPL match for KKR, made him a strong contender for the World Cup squad.
