Gautam Gambhir, the former cricketer and current head coach of the Indian cricket team, has always been a figure of intense passion and commitment.

Known for his steely demeanor on the field, Gambhir's true personality is often misunderstood as arrogance. However, those close to him, like his long-time coach Bharadwaj, paint a different picture.

Bharadwaj has been instrumental in shaping the careers of several cricketers, including Amit Mishra and Joginder Sharma

His association with Gambhir spans over three decades, providing a unique insight into Gambhir’s character.

Bharadwaj, a recipient of the prestigious Guru Dronacharya Award in 2019, recently shared anecdotes from Gambhir’s early days, revealing the former cricketer’s fierce competitive spirit.

Even today he is like an innocent kid: Bharadwaj

In an interview with former India Under-19 World Cup winner Manjot Kalra on his YouTube show, Bharadwaj described Gambhir as someone who has always been deeply averse to losing.

"Gautam Gambhir is a kid. Even today he is like an innocent kid. He has no malice. He is like a 12-year-old kid. People think he is arrogant, but that is his attitude towards winning. I used to make him play matches after nets and he would cry after losing matches. He did not like losing even back then," he said.

Gambhir’s appointment as the head coach of the Indian cricket team marks a new chapter in his career. Starting his first assignment with the white-ball series against Sri Lanka, Gambhir has already made an impact.
