Pakistan’s T20I vice-captain, Shadab Khan often gets criticized for his personal relationship with former Pakistani legend Saqlain Mushtaq. With fresh buzz surrounding their relationship, Shadab finally broke his silence in a recent interaction.

Shadab Khan Breaks Silence

In Pakistani cricket, Shadab Khan is a star all-rounder who has already proved his abilities on the big stage. As the team is facing harsh criticism for their ongoing woes, Shadab is often attacked for his relationship with current mentor Saqlain Mushtaq. Having married Mushtaq’s daughter a few years ago, Shadab frequently battles claims that his selection is driven by personal connections rather than merit. Recently, Shadab addressed this issue.

“I’ve been playing for the national team for the past 6-7 years. I’ve had some good performances during that time. I got married two years ago, but it hurts when the connection with Saqlain Mushtaq is repeatedly brought up.” Shadab said.

Just not the fans, some of the former cricketers of the country didn’t hold back from criticizing the player. Recently, he shared his take on that issue.

“It is especially painful when former cricketers make such remarks because they know what a player goes through,” he said.

Credits Saqlain Mushtaq For His Career Growth

As Shadab Khan is a key player of the Pakistani side, Saqlain Mushtaq has played a crucial role in shaping his career. Amid criticism over their personal ties, Shadab defended Mushtaq’s role, revealing how the legendary spinner helped refine his bowling skills.

“Saqlain Mushtaq is working with me to improve my bowling. I am hopeful that with his guidance, good results will follow, and there will be consistency in my performances,” the all-rounder said.

After consecutive setbacks on the international stage, the Pakistani cricketers have shifted their focus to the upcoming Pakistan Super League 2025. As the marquee event is all set to unveil its curtains on April 11, Shadab Khan is set to lead the Islamabad United once again.
