India and Australia are gearing up for another epic Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, starting on November 22 in Perth. It’s a big one for India, as they’re aiming to make it to their third straight World Test Championship (WTC) final.

To get there, they’ll need everything they’ve got, especially with the Aussies waiting to pounce. Over the years, some of India’s best bowlers have rose to the occasion in this high-voltage rivalry, taking wickets and delivering memorable moments.

Let’s look at the top three Indian bowlers who have grabbed the most wickets in Border-Gavaskar Trophy history.

3. Harbhajan Singh - 95 Wickets

Harbhajan Singh is the man who always had a bit of magic against Australia. The off-spinner took 95 wickets in just 18 matches in the Border-Gavaskar trophy at an average of 29.95. His best figures of 8/84 against Australia in 2001 showed just how dangerous he could be.

Known for his fearless approach and never backing down, Harbhajan was always ready to rile up the Aussies. With his three five-wicket hauls, he always put his hand up and delivered when it mattered, and his battles with Australia are now a part of cricketing legend.

2. Anil Kumble - 111 Wickets

Anil Kumble is one of India’s all-time greats, and in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, he was a force. Playing from 1996 to 2008, Kumble grabbed 111 wickets in 20 matches at an average of 30.32. His best figures, 8/141, were classic Kumble - fierce, focused, and persistent.

With six 5-fers against the Aussies, he was always a threat. Kumble’s courage and determination made him a nightmare for Australian batters, and he was a big part of India’s success both at home and away.

1. Ravichandran Ashwin - 114 Wickets

At the top of the list is none other than Ravichandran Ashwin. Since 2011, Ashwin has taken 114 wickets in just 22 matches at an average of 28.36. His best figures of 7/103 and seven five-wicket hauls show how dominant he’s been against Australia.

Ashwin’s skill, variety, and ability to outsmart batters have turned him into Australia’s biggest challenge in recent years. And the best part? Ashwin is still playing and will be in action this series, so he’ll likely add more wickets to his tally.
