Shardul Thakur faced Virat Kohli's unabashed and expressive avatar on the cricket field for India after a fielding mishap during the early 2021 T20I series played at home against England. The Indian pacer was abused by his skipper over an error which cost the team an extra run.

The incident is from the third T20I of the five-match series played during England's all-format tour of India in Ahmedabad. During the 12th over of the visitors' modest chase of 158 runs, wicketkeeper-batter Jonny Bairstow edged one towards the square leg region.

Stationed there, Thakur was late to collect the ball and then backed his error with another, making a directionless throw which allowed Bairstow and his batting partner Jos Buttler to sneak through for an extra run.

Watching the rookie mistake unfold, Kohli was left fuming and unleashed his anger at the Indian pacer who allowed Bairstow to retain strike even though the damage should've been restricted to a single with a modest target to play with.

Kohli, who is usually calm and composed these days, lost his temper seeing his fielder give away an extra run to the opposition batter while the team strived to defend their total of 156/6 in 20 overs.

India failed to keep the visitors at bay in the critical third outing of the series as Buttler top-scored with 83 off 52 balls while Bairstow hammered an unbeaten 40 off 28 balls in England's comprehensive win by eight wickets.

With their victory, England took a 2-1 lead in the series, which was then integral to the two teams' build-up towards the looming T20 World Cup in UAE. However, Kohli's men managed to overcome the loss and ultimately clinched the rubber with a 3-2 scoreline.
