When Ajinkya Rahane Wore A Casual Yellow T-Shirt At His Own Wedding

Ajinkya Rahane is a laidback character, as described by none other than his own wife Radhika Rahane. The two, also childhood friends, married each other on September 26, 2014 in a traditional Maharashtrian style wedding.

However, much to the annoyance of Radhika, Ajinkya turned up wearing just a yellow t-shirt and jeans at one of the rituals associated with the wedding.

Indian cricketer Ajinkya Rahane wore a yellow t-shirt and jeans during one of his wedding rituals back in September 2014. While the cricketer’s casual approach grabbed much limelight at the time, it once again came to the fore after a recent Bollywood ceremony.

On January 4, 2024; Bollywood actor Aamir Khan’s daughter Ira Khan married to fitness coach Nupur Shikhare. Interestingly, Nupur turned up at the wedding wearing nothing but a casual vest and shorts. While his attire ignited much amusement among fans and social media users, it also reminded some of Ajinkya Rahane’s simple apparel from his traditional wedding back in 2014.

Years down the line, Rahane’s wife Radhika jokingly expressed her annoyance by saying that she somehow managed to hold herself together after seeing her soon-to-be husband dressed in mere casuals. She said:

“Ajinkya Rahane is so laid-back. He was wearing just a yellow t-shirt and jeans at his own wedding. I was so annoyed, but kept it together.”

His laidback nature aside, Ajinkya Rahane is one of the most prolific Indian batsmen in history. The cricketer scored over 5,000 runs in 85 Test appearances since his debut in March 2013, at a healthy average of 38.46. The Mumbai veteran has tallied 12 centuries in his profile, which even includes match-winning hundreds in Australia, England and West Indies.

Rahane also represented Team India in 20 T20Is and 90 ODI matches to score over 3,000 runs across both white-ball formats combined.
