A clip from an old interview with Rohit Sharma has been going viral on Twitter ever since the news that traffic police authorities in Maharashtra handed out the Indian captain three traffic challans for rash driving. The experienced Indian cricketer received the penalty for driving too quickly on the Mumbai-Pune expressway.

Known for his love for driving cars, Rohit was travelling from Mumbai to Pune by road for the ICC World Cup 2023 league-stage clash with Bangladesh when the traffic authorities found him liable for three separate challans after speeding his vehicle beyond the established limit.

According to a report in 'Pune Mirror', "Traffic authorities reported that Sharma was driving at astonishingly high speeds, exceeding 200 km/h and even reaching 215 km/h at times."

"As a result of his reckless driving, three online traffic challans were issued to his vehicle. This incident has raised concerns among cricket enthusiasts and traffic officials."

Coincidentally, the details of the traffic mishap match that of Rohit's old clip, where the esteemed Indian cricketer revealed he once drove a car in excess of 220 km/hr on the Pune highway. Rohit said since there is too much traffic on roads in Mumbai, he had to route to Pune to fulfil his desire.

"Not in the bike, but with the car I've gone on to reach 220 kmph/hr," Rohit said during an old interview. "This was in Bombay-Pune road. You know the Bombay traffic is so bad you can't drive 220. So yeah, we went to Pune for some reason and there I drove 220. That was my highest (speed) till now."

The traffic challan news came as a slight dent on the great euphoria and fanfare after Rohit unleashed his wrath for a majestic knock of 86 off 63 deliveries versus arch-rivals Pakistan in the ongoing World Cup in Ahmedabad.

The great batter backed his excellent knock against the much-vaunted Pakistani attack with another quickfire innings of 48 in Pune for India's victory over Bangladesh on Thursday (October 19).
