Virat Kohli, in the spesh game where he turned as Bangalore captain, surpassed Kolkata's Venkatesh Iyer and ever-scoring Jos Buttler in the race to Orange Cap race, becoming the second-highest run-getter in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

Kohli is just behind his Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)'s captain Faf du Plessis, who is playing as an Impact Player against Punjab Kings at Mohali on Thursday.

Batting in his sixth innings this season, Kohli has already smashed three half-centuries, averaging over 60 with a strike rate of 143.41.

Currently, the Proteas batter has amassed 315 runs in the IPL 2023, while his opening partner has 258 runs in the tournament.

At the time of writing, RCB's openers are going all guns blazing against Sam Curran's Punjab Kings, partnering for 91 runs in the first 10 overs, with Kohli batting at 38* with Du Plessis at 51*.
