One of India's most celebrated cricketers, Sunil Gavaskar has had a career full of remarkable achievements and records. His legacy as India's most promising Test player in the 80s is truly unmatched. But not just this, Gavaskar also been a part of a very unexpected and rare incident on-field.

Back in 2021, Gavaskar in a detailed post revealed a rare occurrence when he became the only cricketer in the world to get a haircut on the ground. 

While describing the incident in full detail he told that it was Dickie Bird, a former English umpire, who chopped off his 'offending locks' which were getting into his left eye during India vs England game at Old Trafford back in 1974.

Gavaskar was annoyed with his hair blocking his sight amid windy conditions because of which he requested Bird to trim his hair.

At the age of 75, Gavaskar remains a popular figure, the ODI World Cup winner is known for his prowess in all formats but most highly in Tests, where he has amassed 10,122 runs from 125 games, becoming the first cricketer to go past the 10,000-run mark in the longest format of the game.

Moreover he has scored 3092 runs in 108 ODIs, averaging 35.13 with one century and 27 half-centuries.
