One of the most decorated franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Under Dhoni's leadership, CSK have won numerous trophies, including four IPL titles and two Champions League Twenty20 titles, cementing their place as one of the best in the world.

CSK, in the ongoing IPL 2023, are placed third in the points table with three wins and two losses. However, former India captain and batting legend Sunil Gavaskar has revealed that he would have liked to play for CSK if given a chance.

Gavaskar, 73, was the first batter to break the 10,000-run barrier in Tests while also surpassing Sir Don Bradman's tally of 29 red-ball tons.

Speaking with Star Sports, the former opener dwelled upon why he wants to play for CSK if not Mumbai Indians, which stems from his desire to see how Dhoni manages the team on and off the field.

Here's what Gavaskar said

"Mumbai Indians, who else? If not, then I would like to play for Chennai Super Kings. Chennai Super Kings for two reasons, firstly, the Chennai owners are passionate about cricket, they have done so much for the sport. Srinivasan sir has done a lot for cricket,

"And the second big reason would be to sit in the dressing room with MS Dhoni and see how he captains the team. Is he as calm and composed in the dressing room as he is on the field? Does he lose his cool when someone has dropped a catch or somebody didn't back up a fielder? That's what I would like to know."

Gavaskar further credited Dhoni for CSK's win over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by eight runs on Monday.
