Pakistan's left-handed batsman Saud Shakeel is enjoying a fairytale start to his Test career. The southpaw smashed a memorable match-winning double-ton in the just-concluded Galle Test against Sri Lanka to break plenty of records.

Coming into bat when Pakistan were reeling at 4/74 in the first innings, the gritty batsman scored an unbeaten 208* (off 361 deliveries) to help the Babar Azam-led unit rack up a match-winning first-innings lead.

In the process, Shakeel overhauled the record held by former all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez of racking up the highest individual score for his nation on Lankan soil. Hafeez scored a brilliant 186 in 2012.

In addition, Shakeel surpassed Harry Brook and George Headley to become the 3rd highest run-aggregator in Test history after six matches.

In 6 matches, Shakeel has piled up 818 runs at an average of 90.89 with the help of 5 half-centuries and 2 tons.

No one has scored more Test runs after six matches except the legendary duo of Sunil Gavaskar (912) and Sir Donald Bradman (862).

The southpaw also backed his double-hundred with a crucial 30 in the 4th innings to ensure Pakistan chased down 133 to take a 1-0 lead in the 2-match series.

Shakeel was adjudged the 'Player of the Match' on expected terms for his incredible performance.
