Zimbabwe entered the Super 12 stage in style by thrashing Scotland by five wickets in their last group stage encounter in Hobart on Friday. Scotland crawled through to a paltry 132, which Zimbabwe chased successfully, courtesy of fantastic knocks from Craig Ervine and Sikandar Raza.

Interestingly, veteran Zimbabwe all-rounder Sean Williams attained a phenomenal feat recently. Williams, one of the Zimbabwe lineup's mainstays, surpassed Shakib Al Hasan to record the longest career in T20 internationals.

Five players with the longest T20I careers

  • Sean Williams - 15 years 327 days
  • Shakib Al Hasan - 15 years 319 days
  • Dinesh Karthik - 15 years 307 days
  • Mushfiqur Rahim - 15 years 277 days
  • Chris Gayle - 15 years 263 days

Williams made his T20I debut against Bangladesh in 2006 and has established himself as a vital cog in Zimbabwe's batting lineup since then. The swashbuckling southpaw has amassed 1294 runs at a strike rate of 126.24 in 61 T20I innings. He has also proved his mettle with the ball, scalping 40 wickets at an impressive economy of 6.96. However, he has had a forgettable outing against Scotland, managing only seven runs.
