Sanju Samson is set to make a return to India’s T20I setup for the upcoming home series against Sri Lanka. The wicketkeeper-batsman last played a T20I against West Indies back in August 2022 at Lauderhill.

Samson, who made his international debut in 2015, has only donned the Indian jersey in 11 ODIs and 16 T20I matches since then. After receiving a rare opportunity back in the side amidst prolonged sporadic appearances, his IPL coach Kumar Sangakkara has expressed a valuable advice for him.

Sangakkara advices Sanju Samson to “settle and not fight”

Former Sri Lanka captain and current Rajasthan Royals coach Kumar Sangakkara believes Sanju Samson should settle and adjust accordingly in the national team. While speaking on Star Sports, the legendary cricketer also praised the Indian wicketkeeper for his skills and temperament.

Sangakkara said:

“He's got every single thing going for him. He's a wonderful young man, he's got skills and temperament. Let it settle, don't fight it, make sure you're adjusting to what comes at you on the day. And then, go out there and enjoy the way he plays.”

The former cricketer also warned Samson to be prepared to bat at any position outside his comfort zone. He added that the youngster should enjoy his cricket irrespective of the result, and also described him as a “very special talent” in the Indian team.
