The second T20 International of the three-match T20I series between India and Australia saw the hosts even the scores.

While the batters took the team through in the match, Team India needs to have hard conversations about the bowling unit. The Asia Cup saw the bowlers underperforming as India won only one of three Super Four games. The fans were under the impression that the team was missing the likes of Harshal Patel and Jasprit Bumrah.

However, Harshal’s comeback to the team did not make much of a difference. Playing the first T20 International against Australia, the RCB player conceded a whopping 49 runs in his four overs.

Rohit defends Harshal

The 31-year-old continued his lean patch in the second T20I as he gave away 32 runs in his allotted two overs without any success with the ball. The back-to-back poor performances have also put a question mark over the place of Harshal in the final XI for the T20 World Cup, scheduled in Australia next month.

While the seamer is being subjected to a lot of criticism and tolling by the fans, he has received backing from captain Rohit.

“The dew started to come in later and therefore you got to see the odd full tosses from Harshal and other guys. But we also want the guys to be confident and they will improve. Yeah obviously, coming from an injury can be a bit tricky. As a team, we are not gonna analyse a lot of his bowling but come and play freely.”
