In his latest Instagram post, the Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant revealed that he's back on his feet again and resumed his training session at the gym this Wednesday. His post entailed a photo from inside the gym where he pointed towards a quote that was written on the wall which said: "Sports do not build character, they reveal it."

These are very encouraging signs for him and his fans who are anxiously waiting to see him live action for the first time since his horrendous car accident last year. At the time of his accident, his condition was critical and was in desperate need of help.

As months rolled by, the 25 year old has made astounding recovery at a very steady pace but is still good 7-8 months away from any form of competitive cricket.

While Pant continues to wait on the sidelines, he is expected to miss out on the WTC final, Asia Cup and the ICC Cricket Word Cup which is scheduled to take place this year in India.

His absense is being strongly felt by the national side which may hurt their chances of winning crucial fixtures. BCCI is now on a hunt for a highly reputable stumper who is equally as flamboyant as Pant.

Following Pant's car accident, several keepers stepped in to fill his shoes in recent times. KS Bharat made his test debut this year against Australia while KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan took up the keeping roles in ODI and T20I respectively. But with Rahul being left out after suffering a hamstring injury this Monday, selectors are faced with an enormous challenge to look for a viable replacement.

However, this IPL edition has seen a lot of fresh talent emerge through the ranks. The PBKS wicket keeper batsman Jitesh Sharma has raised a few eyebrows with his sensational batting performance. The youngster has played some match defining cameos and is scoring at a lightening strike rate of 165, making him a strong contender for a future keeping option apart from Pant.
